A Place to Live- Philadelphia (1947)

Interesting short film produced by Brandon Films and based on a survey by the Philadelphia Housing Association which highlights the problems of housing in Philadelphia in 1947. Among the highlights is the groundbreaking of the Richard Allen Homes, a massive public housing project built to replace blighted areas as well as provide housing for new workers attracted to the city for wartime production. This development, however, became a hotbed of crime and drug dealing in the 1970s and 80s and has since been torn down.

The film includes great vintage footage of Philadelphia at that time.
