L'eggs Pantyhose Commercial (1972)

This classic commercial spot for L'eggs aired in 1972 and features the famous jingle "Our L'eggs fit your legs, they hug you, they hold you, they never let you go.". The jingle was written by Thomas Dawes, a rock musician and composer who wrote music for some of advertising’s best-known commercial jingles. I can remember going shopping with my mom and seeing the L'eggs circular display in the store with the big white plastic egg containers.

Schoolhouse Rock- Interjections! (1974)

"Interjections!" was an animated short in the Schoolhouse Rock! series which aired Saturday mornings on ABC TV. I loved watching these short films which were designed to make learning fun. The lyrics were catchy such as this one from "Interjections!":

"Interjections (Hey!) show excitement (Yow!) or emotion (Ouch!).
They're generally set apart from a sentence by an exclamation point,
Or by a comma when the feeling's not as strong."

The Carpenters- Hurting Each Other

Watch as The Carpenters perform their classic hit "Hurting Each Other". The song was written by Gary Geld and Peter Udell and released on December 23, 1971. It was featured on the album A Song for You and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. It reached number one on the Easy Listening chart.

Michelob Beer Commercial- Cheryl Ladd (1976)

This commercial for Michelob Beer aired in 1976 and features actress Cheryl Ladd. Actor John Forsythe is the announcer. This promotion included the classic jingle "Weekends were made for Michelob".

A Little More Love- Olivia Newton John (1978)

Watch as Olivia Newton John sings her classic hit "A Little More Love" in this 1978 promo video. The song was featured on her 1978 album Totally Hot. In the US, Billboard magazine ranked "A Little More Love" as the 17th most popular song of 1979,and Cash Box ranked it as 23rd for the year, where it had peaked at #4.

Gluematic Pen Commercial (1979)

This commercial is for the Gluematic Pen by Loctite. It opens by explaining that a single drop of this glue can lift two and a half tons. I would guess that this "super strong" and "super fast" glue was a competitor to Krazy Glue. The commercial ends by showing all of the stores that had this product in stock.

This classic 1970s commercial is for The Best of Brenda Lee by Tee Vee Records. It offers a collection of her classic hits which were available on 2 stereo records or 8-track and cassette tapes. Such hits as "I'm Sorry", "Coming On Strong", and "All Alone am I" are featured along with several other songs. The price was $7.99 for the records and $9.99 for 8-track or cassette tape.

Starland Vocal Band- Afternoon Delight (1976)

Original promotional video for the 1976 music classic "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band. This song hit number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts on July 10, 1976. At the 19th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in 1977, "Afternoon Delight" received three nominations. It won the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement for Voices.

Teenage Graffiti- Movie Trailer (1977)

Movie trailer for the 1977 film Teenage Graffiti starring Michael Driscoll, Jeannetta Arnette, and Alden Sherry. This is the quintessential 1970s drive-in classic about teenagers driving too fast, making out, and listening to loud music. This movie was filmed in North Carolina in 1975 under the working title Country Dreamin'. The tagline for this movie is "No one does it like the teenagers do it. And they do it all in Teenage Graffiti".

Jack in the Box Commercial (1977)

Classic 1970s commercial for Jack in the Box promoting various menu offerings in addition to classic hamburgers. The counter employee states "At Jack in the Box restaurants, we're cooking up a lot more than just great hamburgers". The tagline for this spot is "Now you're cooking Jack".

Pan American Airways Commercial (1976)

This classic commercial for Pan American Airways aired in 1976. It features a look at various worldwide destinations and states "there's a lot of world you've never seen". The spot features a fun jingle and closes with the tagline "Pan Am. America's airline to the world".

Carnation Instant Milk Commercial (1970s)

In this classic 1970s commercial for Carnation Instant Milk, actress Vicki Lawrence shows how you can "make a real savings on your milk bill" by using this. It ends with the tagline "Carnation Instant Milk. Good for you and your budget too.".

Piranha- Movie Trailer (1978)

Movie trailer for the 1978 film Piranha starring Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies, Kevin McCarthy, Keenan Wynn, Barbara Steele, and Dick Miller. It tells the story of flesh-eating piranhas that are accidently released into a summer resort's rivers. Piranha was followed by a sequel, Piranha II: The Spawning, in 1981.

Hula Hoop by Wham-O TV Commercial (1977)

This 1977 TV commercial features the Hula Hoop by Wham-O. The toy company produced such classics as the Superball, the Hula Hoop, Silly String, and the Slip 'N Slide water slide. For kids of the 70s, this company helped make days with friends fun and exciting!

Coca-Cola TV Commercial (1978)

This classic commercial for Coca-Cola features neighbors on the steps of an apartment building harmonizing to the jingle "Coke Adds Life". This commercial aired in 1978.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds- Elton John (1974)

In this clip from The Cher Show, Elton John performs his hit single "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". In 1974, Elton released this cover version as a single. It topped the US Billboard pop charts for two weeks in January 1975.

1971 Ford LTD Commercial

This classic commercial for the 1971 Ford LTD features Rod Serling. After talking about the increase in noise everywhere, he announces that "the 1971 LTD is one of the quietest running Fords ever". The tagline for this promotion is "Ford gives you better ideas".

The Brady Bunch- Porkchops and Applesauce

In this clip from The Brady Bunch episode "The Personality Kid", Peter attempts to find a new personality after being told at a party that he was dull. He sees a clip of Humphrey Bogart and attempts to mimic his personality. The classic "Pork Chops and Applesauce" line is said after he finds out was is for dinner. This episode aired on October 22, 1971.

A&P Supermarket Commercial (1979)

This classic commercial for A&P announces the store to be "A Butcher Shop with Supermarket Prices". It shows two women shopping for London broil and the friendly advice they get from the store butcher. The spot features the jingle "Another reason why you'll do better at A&P". This commercial aired in 1979 and ends with an announcement for center cut Chuck Roast for just 98 cents a pound.
