My Darling Clementine- Shakespeare Scene (1946)

In this clip from the 1946 film My Darling Clementine, a Shakespearean actor named Granville Thorndyke (Alan Mowbray) performs his art in the local tavern. The act doesn't go over well prompting Thorndyke to say as he leaves “Shakespeare was not meant for taverns nor for tavern louts”. This film starred Henry Fonda, Linda Darnell, and Victor Mature.

My Darling Clementine is a 1946 western starring Henry Fonda, Victor Mature, Linda Darnell, and Walter Brennan. This movie follows the story of the Wyatt Earp legend though a great deal of the plot deviates from the actual events. The film was directed by John Ford and based on the book of the same name by Stuart Lake. It was released on December 3, 1946.
