The Demise of the Drive In

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The drive-in....I always looked forward to going to see the double feature playing although the films certainly weren't the best. The Beverly Drive In Theater, pictured above and now closed, is where I spent many Friday nights. The owners of this drive in had carefully built their house into the bottom of the screen which I found fascinating. And to boot, there was a goofy golf course in the front called Beverly's Goofy Golf. Inside there was the snack bar which had not-so-good treats and a playground for kids. Also, there was outdoor seating chairs if you could brave the mosquitoes! Many younger people today have no idea what these drive-ins were like which is quite sad. Below is a clip which features many of the classic intermission commercials shown. Enjoy!
