Classics IV - Stormy (1968)

Watch as Classics IV perform their hit single "Stormy" in this clip dating back to 1968. "Stormy" was released in March 1968 and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was featured on the album Mamas and Papas/Soul Train. The song was later covered in 1978 by Santana on the album Inner Secrets.

Wizard Air Freshener Commercial (1968)

In this funny commercial for Wizard Air Freshener, a young girl informs her parents that her friend Janey said the house smells like it has bad breath. Dad agrees and says the house has "House-a-tosis". The narrator then states that Wizard Air Freshener cures House-a-tosis fast and comes in six light scents, "each like a breath of fresh air".

Bayer Aspirin Commercial (1965)

In this classic Bayer Aspirin commercial, two ladies discuss the many "pain reliever claims" of the day such as "I have extra ingredients" and "I'm 50 percent stronger". One of them then notes an article in the American Medical Association that states Bayer Aspirin was just as strong and as other pain relievers and was also gentle on the stomach. It ends with the tagline "Bayer Aspirin is unbeatable. Try it and see."

The Rolling Stones- Time is on My Side (1964)

This clip features The Rolling Stones performing their hit single "Time is on My Side" in their first guest appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. An interesting note is that Ed Sullivan was shocked by the fact that the men had long hair and stated that they would not be invited back. He subsequently invited them back several times.

Animated Dr Pepper Theater Commercial (1960s)

This color animated Dr. Pepper commercial featuring a jazzy theme ran in drive-in theaters in the 1960s. It urges patrons to get some snack bar treats and wash it down with a tasty Dr. Pepper. The promotional spot ends with the classic "Frosty, Man, Frosty". This slogan was introduced in 1956 with the appearance of the mascot Frosty Dog and lasted until the early 1960s.

This classic 1965 commercial introduces the Pontiac Catalina. Watch as a model drives up with photographers waiting only to be ignored due to the beauty of this automobile. With many features including a fastback roofline and choice of engines, it is promoted as "the lowest priced car in the regular Pontiac series".

In this clip, Canadian rock band The Guess Who perform their 1969 classic hit "These Eyes". It was released in the U.S. in April 1969, and became a breakthrough success for the group. It would be their first single to reach the top ten on the Billboard Pop Singles chart, peaking at number six.

StarKist Tuna Commercial (1962)

This classic StarKist Tuna commercial aired in 1962 and features Charlie the Tuna and his cigar smoking friend. Charlie has on a pair of shades "to go up to the surface and have a look around" because a StarKist Tuna scout is up above. After explaining that he has "connections" with StarKist, a hook comes down that reads "Sorry Charlie".

It's a Bikini World- Movie Trailer (1967)

Movie trailer for the 1967 comedy It's a Bikini World starring Tommy Kirk, Deborah Walley and Bobby "Boris" Pickett. It tells the story of Mike Samson (Kirk), the "big man on the beach", who is determined to get pretty girl Delilah Dawes (Walley) to go out with him. She finds him very arrogant and has no desire to see him. When confiding to a friend that she wants to meet a serious and modest guy, Mike poses as his twin brother "Herbert" who is a very serious and quite guy. Delilah begins to date Herbert and soon he falls in love with her. The movie was originally entitled The Girl in Daddy's Bikini. It was shot in the winter of 1965, but not released until the spring of 1967. Several music groups are featured including The Animals, The Toys, The Gentrys, and The Castaways.

The Lucy Show - Lucy and Carol in Palm Springs

This clip from The Lucy Show episode titled "Lucy and Carol in Palm Springs" features Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett. In the episode, Lucy calls in sick to work so that she can accompany her roommate Carol to a golf tournament in Palm Springs. Carol is going there to perform with her music group The Vagabonds. While sunbathing, the two are approached by the hotel manager who is surprised to see Lucy as he thought only one woman was in the group. Carol explains that Lucy is in the group and a plan is set up to include her in the act. This episode aired on November 7, 1966.

Berserk! Movie Trailer- Joan Crawford (1967)

Movie trailer for the 1967 British B-Movie Berserk! starring Joan Crawford, Ty Hardin, and Judy Geeson. The movie tells the story of Monica Rivers (Crawford), owner and ringmaster of a traveling circus. When a series of mysterious murders begins to happen and some of her performers die in gruesome fashion, Rivers sees her profits soar. Happy about the rise in business and her lack of concern about the deaths, suspicion grows about her role in this. An interesting side note on this film is the fact that the circus footage is actually of the famous real-life Billy Smart's Circus. The movie was released in September 1967.

Texaco Toy Tank Truck Commercial (1962)

This classic commercial features the Texaco Toy Tank Truck which were available at Texaco service stations. The announcer states that "it is made of steel and is a full two feet long". This model was sold for just $3.50 and looks "just like the big Texaco trucks you see on the roads". The advertising spot ends with the classic jingle "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star, the big bright Texaco star".

Pan American World Airways Commercial (1968)

Airline travel was such a wonderful experience back in the 1960s. As this classic commercial from 1968 shows, Pan American Airlines, commonly known as Pan Am, offered many amenities unheard of today. It touted "87 first-class entrees", and even "a waiting list for the moon". Pan American was "the airline that's going places, like you've never gone before". This spot was created on the eve of the 747s arrival.

This classic black and white commercial for Eastern Airlines aired in 1965. It showcases the many fun travel destinations offered including Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Miami. The announcer states that "Every year, more people chose this point to the sun because Eastern's service is as warm as the destination". It ends with tagline "Number one to the sun".

Movie trailer for Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, a 1969 British horror film starring Peter Cushing, Freddie Jones, Veronica Carlson and Simon Ward. This is the fifth in a series of Hammer films and follows Baron Victor Frankenstein as he tries brain surgery to save an associate who went mad. This film was released on May 22, 1969.

Avon Lipstick Deluxe Commercial (1960s)

This classic 1960s commercial features Avon's new Lipstick Deluxe. It came packaged with a silver cap and shimmering jewel-like appliqué. Touted as the lipstick "that you've always wished for", Lipstick Deluxe was said to be "light as sheer silk against your skin" and would last for hours and hours. The promotional spot ends with the classic "Ding Dong, Avon Calling".

Post Beep Beep Cereal Commercial (1968)

This is a test commercial produced in 1968 for Beep Beep Cereal. The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote were the featured characters. It was shown to different focus groups to gather their reaction to this new cereal. Limited animation and a cheap soundtrack were used in this test. The cereal never made it to the supermarket.

The Beach Girls and the Monsterr is a 1965 beach party film with a dose of "horror". When victims start showing up on the beach, people wonder if it is the work of some mutated fish while others think it is the work of a madman. This film stars Jon Hall, Sue Casey, Arenold Lessing and Elaine Dupont. It was released in September 1965.
