Mighty Manhattan, New York's Wonder City (1949)

This short film visits many of the neighborhoods and landmarks on Manhattan Island. Among the neighborhoods are the Bowery, Chinatown, Herald Square, and Times Square. It also features the Empire State Building, the New York Public Library, Temple Emanuel, the Central Park Zoo, and the Rockefeller Center complex. The picture quality of this film is fantastic. Released on July 30, 1949.

Color Film of London (1927)

Fascinating vintage color footage featuring scenes of London from the 1920s. This film was shot by Claude Friese-Greene, the inventor of the Friese-Greene Colour Process. Beginning in 1924, Claude began putting together a series of shots called The Open Road. Several locations are shown including Hyde Park, Westminster, London Bridge and the approach to Trafalgar Square.

Legoland Park Opens in Billund Denmark (1968)

Fascinating footage showing the opening of Legoland Billund, the original Legoland park, which opened in 1968 in Billund, Denmark. This park is located next to the original Lego factory and is still open today. Thanks to British Pathe for sharing this great clip.

This extract shows the stadium at White City, built for the 1908 London Olympics, as well as buildings from the 1908 Franco-British Exhibition.

Cross Country with the Osborn Family (1948)

A little background on this video:

In 1948, the Osborn family loaded up their vehicle and headed for West Virginia. Their starting point was Redlands, CA. The film was shot in 1948 with an 8mm movie camera. Back in those days, Route 66 was one of the major west-east routes, thus the theme song, even though the family does travel on other routes besides Route 66.
